In America in the beginning, the performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely place her into the child prodigy category. A child of Irish roots, surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family, this came naturally. Maureen moved into this loving home on August 17, 20th in Ranelagh. Marguerita Lilburn fitzSimons' mother was a contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and also owned part of the well-known Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen loved playing rough sports when she was young and became very adept at it. This interest was combined with the natural ability to perform. She took home almost all Feis Award for Theater and Drama that her country had to provide. When she was in her 14th year, she joined at the Abbey Theater to follow her dream and study the classical theater and operatic singing.
